There is a lot to do in RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Complete Edition. Once finishing the tutorials, I’d recommend tackling some easy scenarios in order to finally get ready for the core experience. It pretty much forces you to resort to the tutorials in order to get reaccustomed to RollerCoaster Tycoon 3‘s overall gameplay. As a result, you get a prettier (but still janky) game with one hell of a convoluted user interface. While you can have a huge view of your park onscreen, the original game’s icons and UI haven’t received any visual improvements whatsoever.

This is a sixteen year old game running with improved resolutions, but that doesn’t mean it was created with a 1080p resolution in mind. Sadly, there are issues with this game, and most of them are a result of a sad reality: RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 has aged. I can even import my own textures and soundtrack to create the most personalized experienced possible.

No wonder I love games like Cities: Skylines, or modes like the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater park creator. I just love a good sandbox coupled with a deep creation tool, anything that lets my imagination go wild. RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Complete Edition is all about completing scenarios in order to gain experience, and then knocking yourself out in the ludicrous sandbox mode.Īs a game itself, it’s still incredibly fun. We’re here to analyze menus, read charts, manage finances, hire staff, and most importantly, come up with the most idiotic rides your imagination (or, more realistically, your budget) can come up with. We’re back in the physics-defying construction and business simulation world, baby. Gone is the newcomer-friendlier, more Sim Theme Park-esque feel from Adventures. Although just as fun for guests, it goes much slower than the default launch mode, so it's not recommended to use this mode unless you want to switch things up.You call this a mess. The vehicle will slowly go up to the top instead of launching up, then drop down suddenly. In Corkscrew Follies, an additional operating mode is added, Downward Launch. It not only goes through guests quickly, but it makes a lot of money doing so. With how fast this ride operates, how easy it is to increase the intensity rating, and how cheap it is to build, this ride is effectively the best flat ride in the game. Be careful as cranking the speed too high will have the car fly off the tower and crash down. How fast the car shoots up is set by you. Known as the Launched Freefall in the EU version and RCT2, the Whoa Belly is a tower ride where a vehicle is launched up by pneumatic cylinders and then drops down by gravity. The best moneymaker out of all thrill rides. It's recommended to use race mode for short to medium tracks as it goes through guests much faster while continuous circuit is more suited for very long raceways. The other mode has one or two cars at the front drive off and make one lap around the track instead of all cars. The winner will perform one victory lap afterward. The former will have guests race each other in a set number of laps until one wins. There are two modes: race mode and continuous circuit mode. The only downside is that building at least 3/8s of the track underground will divide the excitement by 2. Either way, it'll be one of your more popular rides with an excitement rating that can go from 5 to 9.
With its tiny turns and option to set the number of laps, you can make a short track with only four turns or a long circuit that weaves around trees and hills.
